The manufacturing workforce is evolving and so are we.

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Joe Savoia to the team as our new VP of Sales! Joe joins Covalent from Tulip, bringing a wealth of experience in helping manufacturers scale digital transformation and empower their frontline teams. At a time when the industrial skills gap is the #1 challenge for many of our partners, Joe’s “boots on the ground” perspective is exactly what we need to help our customers win.

We sat down with Joe to talk about what brought him to Covalent, his philosophy on the role of technology on the shop floor, and what he's prioritizing in his first months on the job.

    The "Why"

You've spent years at the intersection of manufacturing and tech. What was it about Covalent's specific mission that made you want to lead the charge here?

From the first conversation, Covalent stood out. The clarity of vision, the caliber of the team, and the strength of the existing customer base is phenomenal. Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to build and scale a go-to-market team at Pagely. That role showed me what's possible when the right product meets the right moment. Covalent represents that same convergence with a genuinely compelling platform addressing an underserved need in our space.

    The Tulip Connection

At Tulip, you focused on frontline operations. How does that "boots on the ground" perspective compare to the workforce and training gaps that Covalent customers are facing?

My time at Tulip made one thing clear: even with Industry 4.0 and the continued modernization of our sector, there is still a significant disconnect between back-office systems (ERP, HR, LMS) and execution systems (MES, PLM, SCADA). Bridging that gap to truly understand the capabilities and readiness of your operator roster remains a largely manual exercise for most manufacturers. It’s a lot of paper, clipboards, Excel and custom homegrown tools. That middle layer between back and front office is exactly where Covalent operates. Modernizing this segment is one of the most impactful opportunities in manufacturing today.

    The Strategy

Manufacturers are dealing with a massive "skills gap" right now. What is your philosophy on how technology should support (not replace) the industrial worker?

My time at Tulip reinforced a simple principle: the operator is at the center of the manufacturing universe. Today's frontline workers are navigating an increasingly complex landscape, with new software tools, automation systems, and IIoT devices arriving faster than organizations can absorb them. Manufacturing technology should bring order to chaos, not add to it. Covalent gives our customers a system to ensure their entire workforce can actually leverage these tools effectively and perform at their best and hit on production targets. Empowering the existing workforce is the mission.

    The Roadmap

What are your top priorities for Covalent walking in the door?

My near-term priorities are straightforward: understand our business deeply, learn from our customers, identify what's working, and build from there. Before scaling our reach, we want to make sure we're scaling the right things. We all have strong conviction that Covalent has the potential to create meaningful impact across a wide range of manufacturing stakeholders. Getting that foundation right will make durable growth possible.

    The Person

When you aren't helping manufacturers modernize, how do you spend your time?

I'm based in Southern New Hampshire, about an hour outside of Boston, where I live with my wife, our eight-month-old son, and our dog. We love exploring New England on weekend trips: hiking, golfing, visiting family and spending time up around York Beach are some of our favorite ways to recharge.

Welcome to the team, Joe. We're glad to have you.
